Alice's Escapes Open Day...

Posted by Emilienne Rebel on

My girls and I were so happy to be able to help out at the most recent Alice's Escapes open day over the weekend and catch up with many of the amazing supporters as well as Alice's mum and dad and Milly, her sister. Introducing the new lodge and raising awareness for Alice's Escapes

This wonderful charity provides family holidays for seriously-ill children and also bereavement breaks for families of little angels.

In October 2010, 14-year old Alice Pyne was given a terminal prognosis. Determined to make every second count, she started an online blog detailing her hopes and dreams.

'Alice's Bucket List went viral, trending worldwide and receiving over 10,000 followers in the first 24 hours.

But her number one wish was simply for everyone eligible to join the bone marrow register. She knew only too well that if the right person had been on the register, she too might have had a chance.

Please consider joining a register:

Age 16-30 inclusive? www.anthonynolan.org

Age 18-49 inclusive, currently a blood donor or willing to join? www.bbmr.co.uk

Thanks to the generosity of the Patron, Emma Forbes and her husband Graham, Alice's Escapes were delighted to open a third unit at the site in Cumbria, Lily's Lodge this weekend. The lodge is exclusively available to families who have suffered the loss of a child. This luxury lodge sleeps up to six and offers a comfortable haven in which to relax and remember. For more information please email Vicky (Alice's Mum) at the charity.

"Alice's Escapes is really important to me because the times when we go away as a family are the times when I can forget I'm ill. Every seriously ill child should be able to enjoy a holiday with their family - an escape where they are looked after from start to finish and can simply enjoy being together. I hope you'll help me make that happen."Alice Pyne B.E.M. (1995-2013)

Bold Beanies are proud to support this wonderful charity and there are still a few of the Alice's Escapes floral hats available to purchase here:

This beautiful purple based floral print cotton stretchy fabric hat was donated by Liberty Art Fabrics of London and Alice chose this print herself. Limited edition and only a few left in stock. Alice loved how comfortable these chemotherapy hair loss hats are and especially how pretty they are. A huge lover of Liberty fabrics and purple, she made a great choice!

Miss you Alice x
