A time to remember those who are no longer with us. A time to show love to those alone. A time to bask in the magic. A time to reflect and be grateful. A time to eat, share and drink and recharge for the forthcoming year and new challenges. 

As cancer doesn't stop for Christmas, we will still be shipping our chemo alopecia headwear, head wraps, headscarves, PICC covers and cancer gifts throughout the whole festive period, albeit at a slightly slower service than normal. For all those of you that are newly diagnosed or looking for cancer hats for loved ones, we understand and we care. 

Bold Beanies are designed with style, ease and comfort in mind, by me, Emilienne. I had chemotherapy for Breast Cancer 12 years ago over Christmas. One of my memories of that time is watching her very young children decorate the lower branches of their Christmas tree... and with no energy, thats how it stayed. I was very ill, but very grateful for every moment... and still am. I look forward to a big new family Christmas (and birthday!) with new traditions and lots of love.

One of my favourite stores is doing something rather interesting its really resonated with me, so I've decided to follow suit in an attempt to help us all slow down

The saving will be available for the next fortnight (18th - 30th November 2019), so there really is no need to hurry. It may not appear to be very much, but for a small business every penny is vital and its a very real way of showing my appreciation to my customers. 

So, on Friday November 29th, infamously known as 'Black Friday' I will be taking the day off for a moment of nothingness... giving myself a much needed slow day.

In previous years, Black Friday is the opportunity for customers to secure savings across a few products from limited lines. Last year, even as a small business I felt pressured to offer a discount and everything sold out too quickly, meaning many of you missed out (still sorry!). I believe that chemotherapy or Alopecia hair loss headwear choices should be based on the individual rather than impulse, and hope that a two-week long promotion will provide the time for consideration. Will I need a soft thin breathable cotton hat to keep my head at an even temperature in bed so I can sleep without extra heating the room? What colours will suit me... what clothes would I like to co-ordinate with... Would I like matching hats for the whole family?

Approximately 700 people a day are diagnosed with some form of cancer in Britain. About half of those will lose their hair with chemotherapy treatments. Emilienne was one of them. She found the range of head covering options very outdated and fussy and geared at older women with cancer. As a younger woman with breast cancer, she needed to cover up for her small family and get on with daily life as best she could, but also wanted something more stylish and pretty. The idea for Bold Beanies was developed in her sick bed when her woollen hat was itchy...

I had a really lovely online enquiry from a customer earlier asking about shipping our bold Beanies cancer hats to the USA. 

She was looking for stylish women’s headwear which was also comfortable as she’s having chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. I explained about our snug, coton beanie cancer hats and beautiful quality Liberty printed double sided head scarf made for comfort and ease after surgery. 

Having chemo, she’d lost her hair quickly and felt cold at night, like I did. Her bald scalp was extra sensitive, so she wanted cotton headwear as they are hypoallergenic and breathable. The skull caps for ladies are suitable for daywear and as a temperature controlling cancer sleep hat.

She ordered some soft cancer Beanies (plain colours and Liberty prints) and head scarves to be shipped to America and had a headwear bouquet sent to a friend as a thoughtful cancer gift also having chemotherapy in Ireland. She also ordered a graffiti greetings skull cap to be sent to America for her and her children to write on for her oncologist as he is a runner as thin breathable sweat wicking exercise beanie.
